The third meeting of the Azerbaijani-Tajik intergovernmental commission will be held in Dushanbe this year.

Tajik Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda and Azerbaijani Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Tajikistan Abbasali Hasanov met in the executive office of the Tajik president on Feb. 27, the embassy said.

The sides stressed that the bilateral trade level between the two countries does not correspond to the level of political relations between Azerbaijan and Tajikistan. There is a great potential for expanding the cooperation in hydro-power engineering, agriculture, industry, etc. Azerbaijan has great experience in these areas.

The Prime Minister stressed the Tajik side's interest in the development of relations between the private sectors of the two countries. He added that some 32 signed intergovernmental documents create opportunities for further cooperation of not only the public but also the private sector.

Rasulzoda said that the development of bilateral relations through the cultural events is worthy of praise. While recalling the concerts of last year, he stressed the need to continue the cultural events in 2014.

During the meeting, Hasanov said the third meeting of the intergovernmental commission is planned to be held in Dushanbe this year. It is planned to hold the trade fair and exhibition of Azerbaijani products during the meeting.

The ambassador also stressed the need to develop cooperation in the field of science and education.

The ambassador said the embassy plans to hold several cultural events in Dushanbe and in all areas of the country this year.

The issue of restoring the Dushanbe-Baku direct flights was also discussed at the meeting.
