Ashkhabad and Bern are currently preparing for official visit of Turkmen president Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedow to Switzerland in autumn of this year, official Turkmen source noted on Thursday.
This issue was discussed during the recent meeting of MFA representatives of two countries in Bern. The state and prospects of bilateral relations as well as international issues of a mutual interest were discussed within the negotiations.
Previously, Swiss President Eveline WIdmer Schlumpf wrote in her greetings message to Turkmen counterpart that the upcoming official visit will " contribute to joint Turkmen-Swiss efforts for further development of bilateral relations".
More than 10 projects with Turkmen capital are currently being implemented in Turkmenistan. They mostly refer to services in fuel and energy complex, supply of electric equipment and trade relations. In addition to that, cooperation is established in modern technologies field.
Turkmen Academy of Sciences has signed a contract with Globe Interstar AG (Swiss Confederation) on the supply of seismic equipment and stations.
The Delegation of Turkmen Central Bank visited Bern in November of 2011 with the goal of developing cooperation with Swiss National Bank.
Swiss Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey visited Ashkhabad in 2009 in the framework of its tourney in Central Asia. The issues of cooperation including energy cooperation were discussed at the meetings with Turkmen government representatives.
Turkmenistan supplies natural gas to Russia, Iran and China. The question of entry to the European market is currently on the agenda. This direction is mostly associated with Nabucco project, realization of which presents diversity of energy sources for Europe.
