Ambassador: Sweden stands for long-term relations with Turkmenistan

The Swedish Government supports the expansion and deepening of the positive and long-term relations with Turkmenistan, Swedish ambassador to Turkmenistan Ake Peterson stated, the official Turkmen source said.

The Swedish Government supports the expansion and deepening of the positive and long-term relations with Turkmenistan, Swedish ambassador to Turkmenistan Ake Peterson stated, the official Turkmen source said.

The diplomat handed his credentials to Chairman of the Turkmen Parliament Akja Nurberdiyeva. The sides noted the productivity of the cooperation between the two countries within the European Union and the UN agencies.

Trade and economy, cooperation in science and high technology, education and culture, the environment and tourism were identified as the priority areas of bilateral cooperation.

Peterson said that as ambassador to Turkmenistan he intends to promote enhanced inter-state dialogue, and the visits at governmental and parliamentary level will undoubtedly contribute to it.

Turkmenistan has shown a great interest in cooperation with the Nordic countries in recent years. In particular, the State Statistics Committee previously issued a statement in which it said that Turkmenistan is especially interested in the experience of Finland.

It is innovations that provided a Finnish international competitiveness. Innovative direction today is the main component of the economy. The Finnish higher education system consists of 20 universities and 28 higher vocational schools with a total population of 5 million people.

State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan noted that "the economy of Turkmenistan will be based on similar principles."
