A visit of the chairman of the Majlis of the Islamic Council (parliament) of Iran Ali Larijani to Turkmenistan is expected in the coming days, a Turkmen government's statement said.
According to the statement, this question was discussed at a governmental meeting in Ashgabat. Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that expanding inter-parliamentary relations is an important factor in strengthening inter-governmental dialogue.
At the same time, the importance of establishing closer contacts in hopes of sharing experiences in legislative activities was stressed.
Turkmenistan and Iran, during their long years of cooperation, have implemented a number of large-scale joint projects. Among them are the Tejan-Sarakhs-Mashhad railway, which has become an important transit corridor connecting the states of Central Asia with Europe, the Balkanabad-Ali-Abad transmission line, Dostluk Reservoir.
In addition, projects important for both sides, were implemented. That is projects on construction of Korpeje-Kurt-Kui gas pipeline and Dovletabat-Sarahs-Hangeran pipeline recently put into operation and demanded in view of the ever-increasing supplies of Turkmen gas exports to Iran.
