Tachdurdy Begjanov appointed as the Chairman of Turkmenistan's "Turkmennebit" ("Turkmenoil") State Concern in accordance with the presidential decree.

Turkmennebit's activity covers more than 600 oil and gas fields at different stages of development.

It was earlier reported that during the years of independence, the concern has managed to increase oil production from 5 million tons to 8 million tons a year.

State concern drilled and commissioned 17 new wells, overhauled and commissioned 134 wells from January to March, 2014.

Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov at a special meeting instructed Turkmennebit State Concern and Turkmengeology State Corporation to accelerate the pace of geological exploration as soon as possible, Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary (TDH) state news agency reported.

"The head of state noted that in this regard that it is necessary to conduct exploration drilling in the deeper and the oil-rich layers in order to discover of new large oil fields," the statement said.
