Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting with Iraqi Ambassador Rageh Saber Abbood Al-Musawi, who arrived in Ashgabat to present his credentials, the Turkmen government said in a message Oct. 14.

The meeting focused on the prospects of the Turkmen-Iraqi cooperation, according to the message.

The talks focused on the prospects for development of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the political and economic spheres.

Aside from that, the meeting parties expressed commitment to the development of political dialogue, boosting economic cooperation between the two countries, and the expansion of cooperation through the foreign ministries.

The diplomatic ties between Turkmenistan and Iraq were established in 2009.

Turkmen diaspora members live on the Iraqi territory. Many of them hold high and responsible positions in the Iraqi government.
