By Huseyn Hasanov - Trend:

Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov dismissed the director general of the Turkmenbashi oil refinery Tachberdi Tagiyev.

He was dismissed due to gross shortcomings in the work, according to the president's decree.

The Turkmenbashi oil refinery is the largest enterprise in Turkmenistan, and a quarter of the industrial products manufactured in the country account for this refinery.

A full-scale reconstruction involving major companies from Germany, Iran, Israel, the US, Turkey, France and Japan has been going on at the enterprise since the 1990's.

Turkmenistan plans to bring the oil refining industry's capacity to 15 million metric tons of oil per year by 2015, and to 20 million metric tons of oil by 2020.

Earlier, it was reported that in the near future Turkmenistan will announce international tenders in the oil refining sector.
