President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu discussed the cooperation issues during the meeting in Ashgabat, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported Jan. 29.
Turkish Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to Turkmenistan Sevki Mutevellioglu attended the meeting.
During the negotiations, President Berdimuhamedov and Cavusoglu exchanged the views on the prospects for further expansion of cooperation as part of implementing the earlier reached bilateral agreements and current perspectives, the Turkmen presidential press-service said.
President Berdimuhamedov stressed a significant increase in trade turnover between the two countries, as well as the productive work of famous Turkish companies actively involved in the national and regional projects being implemented in Turkmenistan.
Cavusoglu stressed the great interest of Turkish business in strengthening its positions on the Turkmen market. He expressed gratitude to President Berdimuhamedov for the assistance in this direction.
The humanitarian and cultural area was one of the priorities of the Turkmen-Turkish cooperation. An intergovernmental agreement on "Cooperation in the field of education" was signed between Turkmenistan and Turkey in 2014. It gave a new impetus to the bilateral scientific-educational and cultural contacts.
The upcoming trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey in Ashgabat was also discussed. The issues of inter-state cooperation in the field of power engineering and transport were also on the agenda.
Cavusoglu said that Turkey attaches great importance to the cooperation with Turkmenistan as part of the UN and other international organizations in promoting peace and global sustainable development.
