President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received Turkish ambassador Sevki Mutevellioglu, who is completing his diplomatic mission in the country, the government of Turkmenistan said March 20.
During the meeting the sides exchanged views on key areas of bilateral cooperation based on the principles of mutual benefit.
"Dozens of the implemented and planned joint projects in various fields, the sustained growth in a trade turnover volume between the two countries, the active Turkmen-Turkish business relations, frequent exhibitions and business forums testify to this," the statement said.
The Turkmen-Turkish summit in Ankara in early March gave a new impetus to the cooperation between the two countries. The important agreements were reached following the summit.
As of 2014, Turkey ranked second in a total trade turnover of Turkmenistan. The bilateral trade turnover volume exceeded $6 billion and increased by 26.6 percent compared to 2013.
