In order to ensure integrated approach to the expansion of cooperation, Turkmenistan and Oman discussed the possibilities of creating a joint intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, said the message from Turkmen government.

The announcement was made during the political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries.

Omani delegation was led by the country's Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmed bin Yousef Al Harthy who is on a visit to Ashgabat.

The agenda of the bilateral political consultations included the issues of mutual interest. The sides discussed the possibilities of expanding the cooperation in political, trade, economic, energy, transport and communications spheres.

They also stressed the importance of strengthening of the legal framework in order to ensure mutually beneficial cooperation.

"The Omani side highlighted the rapid growth of Turkmenistan's economy which increases the interest of foreign states to invest in our country's economy," said the message.

In general, Turkmenistan optimizes its relations with the Arab countries.

In accordance with the implementation of Turkmenistan's national program for development of the civil aviation, the country's national air carrier plans to open air service from Ashgabat to Kuwait, Masqat, Sharm el-Sheikh, Hurghada, Cairo.

An agreement to create an international transport and transit corridor between the Islamic Republic of Iran, the State of Qatar, Sultanate of Oman, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan was signed in Ashgabat in April 2011. This agreement aims to create a reliable link between the countries of Central Asia and the ports of Persian and Oman gulfs.
