Ministries of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan and Sweden held political consultations in Stockholm, the message of the Turkmen government said July 7.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of holding a joint business forum in February 2016.
They also exchanged views on prospects of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Sweden, discussed issues of cooperation in political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian fields.
After exchanging views on relevant issues of the international agenda, the sides expressed mutual interest in expanding cooperation within the framework of international organizations. The issue of intensification of relations within the EU-Turkmenistan format became a separate topic of discussions.
Turkmenistan has recently showed more interest in establishing the relations with the countries of Scandinavia.
In particular, the country's State Statistics Committee previously issued a statement, which said the experience of Finland is of special interest for Turkmenistan.
The statement said the innovations ensured Finland's competitiveness at the international level and today innovative direction is the main component of the country's economy.
The statement further said the higher education system in Finland consists of 20 universities and 28 higher vocational schools given the country's total population of five million people.
The State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan said that the economy of Turkmenistan will be based on similar principles.
