Turkmenistan observed growth in the volume of cargo transportation by all types of transport in Jan.-June 2015, the country's State Statistical Committee said July 13.

The volume of work carried out through Turkmenistan's Railway Transport Ministry has increased by 30.5 percent. The service rendering through the Road Transport Ministry has grown by 29 percent during the reporting period. This figure totaled 4 percent and 1.4 percent in the spheres of cargo and passenger transportation, respectively.

The volume of aviation services rendered through Turkmenistan Airlines state national service has increased by 16 percent in Jan.-June. This figure stood at 0.5 percent and 0.1 percent in cargo and passenger transportation, respectively.

The volume of work carried out through the State Service for Maritime and River Transportation has grown by 30 percent during the reporting period.

Turkmenistan shares borders with Kazakhstan, Iran, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan on land and with Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Iran on the Caspian Sea.

Turkmenistan has intensified the regional transport projects in recent years.

A ceremony of launching a new steel main pipeline Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran took place in December 2014.

Moreover, Turkmenistan Airlines currently carries out flights to the UK, Germany, UAE, Turkey, India, France and a number of CIS countries.
