Turkmenistan's GDP increased by 8.7 percent in January-July 2015, the Turkmen economy and development ministry said.

According to the macroeconomic indices as of seven months of this year, the GDP of Turkmenistan is ensured at 108.7 percent, including the industrial sector - 104.4 percent, construction - 112.6 percent, transport and communication complex - 111.9 percent, trade - 113 percent, agriculture - 112.2 percent, services - 112.1 percent, the statement said.

The production growth rate amounted to 107.5 percent in Turkmenistan compared to the same period of last year.

The retail trade turnover volume increased by 19.5 percent in Turkmenistan for seven months of this year compared to the same period of 2014, the statement said. Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover also increased during the period.

The total cost of the buildings erected under contract in Turkmenistan today exceeds $50 billion. Among the large facilities are the construction of the Turkmenbashi international sea port and the Olympic Village in Ashgabat.

A number of large enterprises are being constructed in Turkmenistan. Their commissioning will give an additional impetus to the development of the chemical industry.

The gas pipelines are also being constructed. This will diversify the Turkmen natural gas transportation routes.

According to the electric power development concept, the power plants and transmission lines are being built in Turkmenistan. The oil and gas fields are being developed.

Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world's natural gas reserves. At present, it exports gas to China, Iran and Russia, according to a British Petroleum (BP) report.
