Turkmenistan celebrates the 24th anniversary of its Independence October 27 and 28, and these days have been declared holidays.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov congratulated compatriots on the significant date.

Having noted that independence is a national pride, a centuries-old cherished dream of the Turkmen's ancestors, which has become today a beautiful reality, the head of state expressed confidence that the festivities in honor of the Day of Turkmenistan's independence will contribute to strengthening the social unity and cohesion.

Over the years of the sovereignty of neutral Turkmenistan, confidently walking forward on the path of independent development to new horizons of prosperity, the work equal to centuries has been done, the president said. "Our democratic state, which proclaimed a human the main value of society, entered the number of powerful, prosperous peace-loving nations of the planet by achieving great success in all areas of activity through hard and selfless work of courageous people of our country," said President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov.

Ceremonies of commissioning of modern residential houses, new socio-cultural and industrial facilities and structures will be held in all the towns and villages to mark the celebration.
