The ninth meeting of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian commission on economic cooperation is scheduled to be held in Ashgabat November 17, said the government of Turkmenistan.
Issues concerning the course of practical implementation of the previously reached bilateral agreements, the current state and prospects of further development of cooperation on priority areas, expansion of productive contacts between business and enterprise structures of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation will be put on the agenda.
At the last government meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov said that Russia is one of Turkmenistan's strategic partners, the cooperation with Russia is progressive, effective and long-lasting.
Berdimuhammadov further said that the cooperation between the two countries, based on long-standing traditions of friendship and good neighborliness that link the peoples of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation, has an impressive potential, in the practical implementation of which a significant role belongs to the joint intergovernmental commission.
Russia occupies a leading position in the ranking of the largest foreign trade partners of Turkmenistan.
In recent years, cooperation with the major regions of the Russian Federation has intensified, among which are Tatarstan, St. Petersburg, Astrakhan region, Sverdlovsk region, as well as other subjects of the Russian Federation.
In total, more than 190 companies with the participation of Russian capital implementing more than 240 investment projects were registered in Turkmenistan.
