Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov spoke about the weakening of discipline in trade sector and exposure of bribery cases among executives, in particular, among those of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations.

Addressing a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers Feb. 6, the president noted that Deputy Prime Minister Palvan Taganov didn't cope with his duties.

He made this conclusion due to the lack of attention to the training of specialists and failure to comply with the earlier given instructions, said Turkmen government in a message Feb. 6.

In this regard, the president announced the decision to dismiss Taganov as the deputy prime minister due to serious shortcomings in his work.

Batyr Atdayev, the former chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber, was appointed the deputy prime minister.

In his new position, Atdayev will supervise the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.

Bayar Abayev, the minister for trade and foreign economic relations, was severely reprimanded by the president for improperly performing his official duties and shortcomings in his work.
