Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has issued a decree allowing the Agriculture and Water Resources Ministry to sign a number of contracts for the purchase of agrochemicals and harvester spare parts.

The decree also said that Germany's Umax Trade GMBH will supply the country with agrochemicals to be used for wheat cultivation and cotton sowing this year, as well as for locust and perennial weeds control.

Turkmenistan is expected to sign contracts with several foreign companies for the purchase of spare parts, wheels, lubricants and expendable materials for harvesters and tractors.

The country plans to produce 1.6 million tons of grain and 1.05 million tons of cotton this year.

Over 1.4 million tons of grain and 1.1 million tons of cotton were produced in 2015.
