Turkmenistan ratifies basic ILO conventions

Turkmenistan has ratified agreements and fundamental conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO), according to the ministry of labor and social protection of the country's population.

"Employment of the population is one of the priority areas in the social policy of our state," the article read. "Employment indicators are the measure of this, as well as of sustainable socio-economic development of the state."

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in May 2015 approved a program of improving the employment system and the creation of new jobs in Turkmenistan for 2015-2020, as well as the Action Plan for its implementation.

Ministries, sectoral agencies, local administrations of provinces and the city of Ashgabat, as well as public associations were instructed to ensure their implementation.

The plan, in particular, provides for a further improvement of the employment legislation in accordance with the requirements of international law, development of measures for the introduction of the legal employment of persons with disabilities, promoting economic activity increase of the country's youth, organization of courses to improve the skills of workers and retraining of the working staff, and well as preparation of proposals for the creation of new industries, kinds of activities and jobs.
