Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received Toyohisa Kozuki, Japanese newly appointed extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador, the Turkmen government said March 26.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received Toyohisa Kozuki, Japanese newly appointed extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador, the Turkmen government said March 26.

Kozuki delivered his credentials to the president.

During the meeting, the ambassador stressed the Japanese side's high interest in the further development of traditionally friendly relations with Turkmenistan.

The sides exchanged views on priority areas of interstate relations, which are being developed both in bilateral and multilateral formats, through the authoritative international organizations and structures, as well as part of the Central Asia + Japan dialogue.

The sides also stressed the potential for further intensification of cooperation in its promising areas, including the trade-economic, energy, transport and communication sectors.

Japanese companies are implementing a number of large investment projects in the gas-chemical and chemical areas in Turkmenistan.
