Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov has proposed to hold a special conference under the auspices of the UN on measures for improving environmental situation in Central Asia in 2017.
The minister made the remarks addressing the general debate of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly, said the message posted on the UN News Center.
He further noted that after assuming the chairmanship of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, Turkmenistan will discuss the means to advance the agenda with other regional countries and UN agencies.
In conclusion, the minister reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s commitment to continue to cooperate with the UN and active involvement in and support for its political and diplomatic efforts to preserve and strengthen global security and in implementing its programs in the economic, social, environmental, humanitarian and other areas.
