Turkmenistan has harvested 590,614 tons of cotton during the current harvest campaign, the country’s government said in a message Oct. 1.
Some 1.05 million tons of cotton are planned to be picked from 545,000 hectares of land plots in Turkmenistan during the campaign.
Cotton is the main raw material for the textile industry of Turkmenistan. Moreover, it is an important export product.
The country supplies cotton to China, Russia, the UK, South Korea, Turkey, Iran, Indonesia, Singapore, Ukraine and the Baltic countries.
