The Garlyk mining and processing plant for the production of potash fertilizers is planned to be commissioned in Turkmenistan in March 2017, Anatoly Kalinin, Belarusian deputy prime minister, told reporters in Minsk, Belarusian media reported.

"The plant construction is under completion,” BelaPAN news agency cited Kalinin as saying.

The Belarusian Belgorkhimprom JSC has been constructing the plant worth more than one billion US dollars since June 2009. The plant is intended for the production of 1.400 million tons of fertilizers per year.

Garlyk, which is the largest potassium salt field, located in Koytendag district of Turkmen Lebap province, will be the raw material base.

The plant will meet Turkmenistan’s agricultural needs. Moreover, it will be possible to export products which are in demand on the world market.
