Turkmenistan and Japan exchanged views on the partnership prospects and opportunities in the field of migration, the Turkmen State Migration Service said in a message Nov. 23.

According to the message, visa issuance for Japanese citizens was discussed at a meeting with representatives of the embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan.

The Turkmen and Japanese sides expressed confidence that the cooperation in the field of migration will continue to develop.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at a recent meeting of the country’s Cabinet of Ministers that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the comprehensive development of a fruitful dialogue with Japan.

Turkmenistan and Japan are preparing for the next meeting of the Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation, to be held in Tokyo. The agenda of the meeting includes the development of cooperation in such fields as economy, finance, trade, oil and gas, energy, industry, construction, transportation and communications, agriculture and water management, as well as education, health and tourism.

In October 2015, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said during the talks in Ashgabat that Japan is ready to share its experience and advanced technologies with Turkmenistan.
