Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov offered deepest condolences to his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani over the collapse of a shopping centre in Tehran that killed and severely injured numerous people, the Turkmen government said in a message.

The fire engulfed the 17-story high-rise, which housed a big shopping center, on Jan. 19. The building collapsed as the fire-fighters were trying to extinguish the blaze. As a result of the accident, nearly 30 people were killed and the number of injured people exceeded 70.

On behalf of the Turkmen people and government and on his own behalf, Berdimuhamedov conveyed empathy and support to relatives and friends of the killed people, and wished quick recovery to those injured.
