Turkmenistan has initiated a number of projects with Tajikistan, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said.
The projects are aimed at further expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the sphere of transport and communications, the message said.
According to the Turkmen side, the effective activity of the two neighboring countries in this area could contribute to the development of economic partnership in the region, create new opportunities for strengthening transport and transit potential in Central Asia.
In this regard, the statements of one of the Tajik officials were unclear for the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
Deputy Head of the Tajik Railways State Unitary Enterprise Usmon Kalandarov has recently made a statement, Tajik Avesta news agency reported.
According to that statement, the Tajik side is discussing the issue of opening the railway route through Uzbekistan to Russia, bypassing Turkmenistan.
"While speaking about the construction of a new railway route, bypassing Turkmenistan, the senior official forgets about the agreements reached at the highest state level,” the message said.
“According to these agreements, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan intend to intensify cooperation in the rail transport in the coming years by increasing cargo and passenger transportation from Tajikistan through Turkmenistan to third countries," the message said.
Turkmenistan and Tajikistan have a number of proposals for the construction of new railway lines.
The Turkmen Foreign Ministry hopes that the Tajik side will thoroughly consider the issue.
