Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov mulled topical issues of bilateral trade and economic relations in a phone conversation, the press service of the Russian government reported.

The sides also touched upon the schedule of upcoming contacts, according to the message.

Medvedev congratulated Berdimuhamedov on his convincing victory in the presidential election held Feb. 12, and wished him further success in his state activities.

It was earlier reported that Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to hold talks in Turkmenistan and upon reaching a concord, sign an agreement on industrial cooperation.

The purpose of the agreement is to create mutually beneficial competitive environment in the two countries’ markets of industrial products.

Russia and Turkmenistan intend to cooperate in this sphere to implement joint programs and projects, enhance the competitiveness of enterprises of the two countries and facilitate the development of industrial cooperation.
