Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has dismissed the Cabinet of Ministers due to formation of a new government, Turkmenistan State News Agency reported Feb. 17.
Inauguration of Turkmenistan’s president was held in Rukhiyet Palace in Ashgabat Feb. 17. After taking office, the Turkmen president in his speech outlined the main provisions of the country’s domestic and foreign policy for the next seven years.
A presidential election was held on Feb. 12 in Turkmenistan. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who has been the president since 2007, was re-elected for a third term with 97.69 percent of votes.
Nine candidates took part in the presidential election.
