Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during his working visit to Pakistan, the Turkmen government said in a message.

The two presidents took part in the Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Islamabad. During the meeting, the sides held an exchange of views on prospects of cooperation.

The Turkmen and Turkish presidents expressed their support for further utmost strengthening of effective cooperation. The trade and economic sphere, energy sector, transportation and communication, construction industry and several other areas are among priority directions of the two countries’ partnership. Turkish businessmen’s high interest in expanding mutually beneficial ties with Turkmenistan was also noted during the meeting, says the message.

Meanwhile, the two presidents exchanged views on several topical issues of regional and global agenda.

“The similarity and coincidence of positions of Turkmenistan and Turkey on essential issues of our time, first of all, issues related to ensuring global peace, security and sustainable development, are a reliable basis for the further promotion of constructive partnership on world stage,” says the message.

Turkish companies are implementing big projects in Turkmenistan’s such sectors as transportation, fuel and energy complex, communications, agriculture, construction, trade, management of water resources. Currently, about 600 enterprises with Turkish capital are registered in Turkmenistan.
