Gulshat Mamedova has been elected vice-speaker of Turkmenistan’s parliament, the Turkmen government said in a message.

The relevant law has been signed by the country’s president in line with the Article 80 of Turkmenistan’s Constitution and the results of an open voting held during the 21st session of the Turkmen parliament.

Under the Constitution, the parliament passes laws; introduces changes and additions to the basic law; approves the state budget; solves issues on holding nationwide referendums; appoints the election of president, members of the parliament and representative bodies; considers issues on the appointment and dismissal of the chairman of the Supreme Court, prosecutor general, foreign minister, justice minister on the proposal of the head of state; ratifies and denounces international treaties; solves the issues of changing the state border and the administrative-territorial division of the country.
