Uzbekistan, Hungary to expand relations

At a meeting with the Ambassador for Hungary Istvan Iydyarto who resides in Moscow, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry confirmed a mutual interest in further developing Uzbek-Hungarian relations in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian and other areas as well as enhancing contacts at various levels, Uzbek Foreign Ministry press-service reported.

At a meeting with the Ambassador for Hungary Istvan Iydyarto who resides in Moscow, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry confirmed a mutual interest in further developing Uzbek-Hungarian relations in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian and other areas as well as enhancing contacts at various levels, Uzbek Foreign Ministry press-service reported.

The parties discussed the practical implementation of joint documents adopted at the Uzbek-Hungarian summit, held in Tashkent in November 2011.

It was reported that an intergovernmental Uzbek-Hungarian economic cooperation agreement was signed during the visit of Hungarian President Pál Schmitt to Uzbekistan in November last year.

The agreement provides for the formation of an intergovernmental commission consisting of representatives from relevant government agencies and companies, covering the whole range of Uzbek-Hungarian cooperation in trade and investment fields.

During the meeting at the Foreign Ministry the creation of a Hungary-Uzbekistan deputy group at the National Assembly was considered to deepen inter-parliamentary cooperation.

The parties also expressed interest in establishing mutually beneficial relations between the business circles of Uzbekistan and Hungary to expand bilateral trade, offer access to the joint investment projects in areas such as construction, processing of agricultural products, pharmaceutical and chemical, textile, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering fields.

Both sides exchanged views on international and regional issues, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.

There are seven companies with the participation of Hungarian investors in Uzbekistan, including five joint ventures and two with a 100 per cent Hungarian capital. The missions of five Hungarian companies are accredited at the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade.
