The scientific and practical conference titled "Tamerlane's place in world history" was held on Feb. 25 at Tashkent State Pedagogical University (TSPU) named after Nizami Ganjavi.

The conference was organized by Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan Friendship Society with the assistance and guidance from Azerbaijani Embassy in Uzbekistan and the TSPU.

It was attended by Uzbek and Azerbaijani scholars engaged in oriental studies, writers, members of the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission and activists of the Azerbaijani-Uzbek Friendship Society.

Prior to the conference, the participants laid flowers at the monument to Azerbaijan's classic literature figure, poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi, in front of the university named after him.

Welcoming the conference participants, the chairman of the Azerbaijani-Uzbek Friendship Society, TSPU Rector Shaukat Sharipov and Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Uzbekistan Huseyn Guliyev stressed the close links existing between scientists and the literature figures of the two countries.

The reports from the conference participants thoroughly and fully presented Tamerlane's value and role in history for not only being an outstanding military leader, but also for his creative role in establishing the foundations of statehood, the arts, literature, language and uniting the peoples of the Turkic world.
