The tariffs for natural gas supplied to the population will be increased by 8.9 percent in Uzbekistan on April 1, Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company.
The cost of one cubic meter of natural gas in case of a gas meter will hit 165.24 soums compared to 151.74 soums from April 1. The cost of 10 cubic meters of gas used for cooking and hot water supply will hit 2.857.65 soums (at present 2.624.15 soums) if there is no gas meter.
The cost of 10 cubic meters of gas used for heating increased from 1.216.95 soums to 1.325.25 soums.
The new tariffs were set by the Finance Ministry, according to the report.
Natural gas tariffs were increased by 8.5 percent in October last year.
Last week Uzbekistan announced an increase in central heating and hot water supply tariffs by 11.7 percent, cold water supply tariffs by 10.5 percent, electricity tariffs by 9.5 percent from April 1.
The official exchange rate is 2.250.36 soums/$ 1.
