International Labor Organization reveals no facts of forced child labor in Uzbekistan

The monitoring of the International Labor Organization found no evidence of using forced child labor in the cotton harvest during last season in Uzbekistan.

The ILO conclusion was voiced during the seminar "ILO Conventions on forced child labor", held in Tashkent, the press service of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan reported.

At present time, a Coordination Council on Child Labor, consisting of senior officials of the Council of Federation of Trade Unions, Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, the Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Farmers, was established in Uzbekistan.

The Council developed a plan of action, in accordance with which it undertakes specific measures to implement the ILO Conventions, in order to further strengthen their efforts to prevent the worst forms of child labor, the federation said.

In particular, the study of ILO conventions and determining the tasks for their implementation in Uzbekistan by the representatives of the local authorities have been organized .
