Portugal's newly appointed Ambassador to Uzbekistan with residence in Moscow, Mario Godinho de Matos handed over his credentials addressed to Uzbek President Islam Karimov, to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry's leadership.

During the talks held at Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the parties exchanged views on the current state of Uzbek-Portuguese relations, as well as some international issues.

The parties positively assessed relations between Uzbekistan and Portugal, pointing out mutual interest in further expanding and deepening ties in trade, economic and investment fields, including through the implementation of joint high-tech projects in various industrial sectors.

Particular attention was also paid to practical cooperation of the two countries within the UN and other major international institutions.

The meeting also reviewed the proposals on intensifying contacts in the cultural and tourism areas.
