A French institute in Uzbekistan will be closed in late June, the French embassy in the country said.
"The French institute in Uzbekistan will be closed from June 30, 2014 at the request of the Uzbek authorities," the embassy said.
After the closure, the French embassy in the country will continue to organize cultural and linguistic events.
The French institute in Uzbekistan was opened in spring of 2011.
The main goals of the French institute include the study of the French language, organization of cultural events and dissemination of information on education, scholarship programs, competitions and vacancies, as well as the institutions of France.
