Uzbek President Islam Karimov has received the commander of the U.S. Army Forces Central Command, General Lloyd Austin who is on a visit to Tashkent, Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA) reported.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the topical issues related to the bilateral cooperation in various spheres, as well as certain regional and international problems, UzA said.

Lloyd Austin expressed gratitude to Uzbek President for providing opportunity to exchange views on the current status and prospects for the development of the Uzbek-U.S. relations in the spheres of mutual interest. He reaffirmed the readiness of the U.S. government to strengthen the multifaceted cooperation with Uzbekistan.

During his visit to Uzbekistan in 2013, General Austin emphasized the U.S. interest in developing the relations between the two countries.

During that meeting, Uzbek president emphasized the constructive and the progressive nature of the Uzbek-U.S. dialogue that allows to intensify the relations in all spheres of mutual interest.
