Major fire occurred at one of the wholesale markets of Tashkent - the timber market, known as the "Takhta Bozor" on the night of August 17-18, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan told Trend on Aug. 18.
The ministry noted that the fire started at 2:30 a.m. (local time), "as a result of a careless fire handling."
Fire sources have been eliminated by the Fire Service arrived at the scene. No victims were reported, the ministry said.
About 300 square meters of wood have been burnt due to the fire. Extent of the damage is being established.
There was a major fire at the other wholesale market "Chinnie Bozor" a week ago, located on the outskirts of Tashkent.
The fire completely destroyed about 20 shops, and in general almost half of about 150 outlets operating in the market suffered from the damage.
