The intergovernmental agreement between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Cyprus on cooperation in fighting crime entered into force on Feb.27, Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

The document was signed during the visit of then foreign minister of the Cyprus Republic, Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis to Tashkent in April 2012.

The agreement envisages cooperation between the two countries in fighting crimes against persons, peace, public safety and order, as well as in the areas of economic activity and information technologies.

Under the agreement, the sides will cooperate by exchanging information in fighting the abovementioned crimes and rendering assistance in solving them.
