Uzbek presidential candidate from the Liberal Democratic Party (UzLiDeP), incumbent President Islam Karimov met with voters of Samarkand district within the framework of the election campaign, according to Uzbekistan National News Agency (UzA).

Presenting his election program to the residents of Samarkand, Islam Karimov stressed the main directions of development of the country - continuation of reforms ongoing in all areas, gaining a worthy place among developed countries, further improving the welfare of the population, the structural transformation of economy and increasing its competitiveness, the revision of the level of government involvement in the economy and other areas, development of business, entrepreneurship and farming movement.

Before the trip to Samarkand, Islam Karimov met voters of Bukhara and Navoi districts.
In Bukhara, the president said that economy develops steadily, standard of living of the population rises as a result of the reforms implemented in the district. He went on to add that in 2014, the gross regional product grew by 8.2 percent. Some 296 projects have been implemented in the chemical, oil and chemical, food, light industry, production of building materials and furniture, he said.

Speaking to voters of Navoi district, Karimov said that the most important factor of the further development of the national economy is the work on its modernization, which is clearly demonstrated by the development of the district.

He said mining and textile industries, agricultural production are being dynamically developed, while the number of small businesses and private enterprises is being increased.

Karimov added that the large-scale projects are being implemented on the basis of the localization program. He also said the cooperation with foreign investors is being expanded.

The president said not only the cities but also the remote villages of the region are renovated and transformed, centers of culture and leisure of the population, children's sports facilities are being built, and modern infrastructure of the standard housing is being formed.

Other candidates for the post of the president of Uzbekistan continue making trips to the regions and meetings with voters as well.

The presidential candidate from the Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan "Adolat" Narimon Umarov met with voters of Andijan region.

While addressing the voters, Umarov stressed the main goals of the program. Strengthening of the social partnership between employers and employees, improving of the working conditions at the enterprises, further enhancing of the social responsibility of businesses are among them.

The candidate program mainly focuses on the broad public examination of the social development programs, support for socially significant, civil initiatives, creating favorable conditions for the activity of the non-profit non-governmental organizations and charity development.

The presidential election of Uzbekistan is scheduled for March 29. The electoral campaign began on December 26, 2014. The candidates of four political parties claim for the presidency.
