The issues of extremism counteraction and working out the joint actions against the threats of Islamic State (IS), as well as a program of cooperation of SCO member states in the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism for 2016-2018 are being discussed at a meeting of the board of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), being held in Tashkent.

The issues of extremism counteraction and working out the joint actions against the threats of Islamic State (IS), as well as a program of cooperation of SCO member states in the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism for 2016-2018 are being discussed at a meeting of the board of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), being held in Tashkent.

The meeting participants will also discuss the joint actions against the Hizb ut-Tahrir international terrorist organization, a representative of the executive committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure told Trend.

It is also planned to discuss the algorithm of the joint exercise to reveal the terrorist, separatist and extremist organizations on Internet.

The SCO was founded in 2001. It is a permanent intergovernmental international organization. The SCO includes Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

India, Iran, Mongolia and Pakistan have an observer status in the SCO. Belarus, Turkey and Sri Lanka are dialogue partners.

The Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure is a permanent structure of the SCO, established to promote coordination and cooperation among the competent bodies of the SCO member states in the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism. In its activity, the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure follows the documents and decisions taken as part of the SCO. The Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure interacts with the competent bodies of the sides and prepares the appropriate files at the requests of other SCO bodies.

The SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure includes the representatives of special services and law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
