Tashkent City Court of Grave Crimes found Kudrat Shoazizov and the victim's son Umid Mirzaev guilty in the murder of the anchor of the National Television and Radio of Uzbekistan Rahmatillo Mirzaev, local media reported.

The anchor's son was sentenced to 18 years in prison for organizing a crime and his accomplice Shoazizov - to 14 years in prison.

It was previously reported that Rahmatillo Mirzaev, honored worker of culture of Uzbekistan, anchor of the National Television was killed on the night of March 2.

Mirzaev was the leading anchor of news programs and public holiday events broadcasted by the National Broadcasting Company of Uzbekistan.

On the morning of March 2, the body of 60-year-old TV anchor with multiple stab wounds was found in the yard of his house, located on the territory of the rural gathering of citizens of Chigat-Oktepa Zangiata district (a suburb of Tashkent).

A criminal case under article 97 of the Criminal Code (deliberate murder with special cruelty) was initiated on the murder of TV anchor by Tashkent region prosecutor's office.

A suspect in the murder Kudrat Shoazizov was detained as the result of the conducted search operations. Evidence was discovered in the house of the victim in the course of an investigation.

Kudrat Shoazizov, 21-year-old resident of Tashkent region, arrested for the murder of a famous TV anchor Rahmatillo Mirzaev, has confessed that he was suffering from drug addiction, broke into the home of the TV anchor with the purpose of robbery, and decided on murder after he was discovered by the owner of the house.

The offender struck Mirzaev with knife three times, and tried to hide in his house in the heat of passion.

In early June, the Uzbek Prosecutor General's Office reported that the investigation was completed and Kudrat Shoazizov and Umid Mirzaev got the status of the accused ones in the crime. The case was sent to court.
