Alisher Kurmanov, appointed to the post of ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, departed from Tashkent to London Aug.11, said the press-service of the foreign ministry of Uzbekistan.

Prior to this appointment (starting from July 2014) Alisher Kurmanov worked as first deputy minister of foreign affairs of Uzbekistan.

Alisher Kurmanov was born in 1965, he graduated from Tashkent State University in 1990, and the Tashkent State Economic University in 1994. He speaks English and Arabic.

The structure of the Uzbek foreign ministry operates since 2000.

In 2000-2003, he worked as the first secretary, advisor for economic and commercial affairs of the embassy of Uzbekistan in Great Britain, in 2007-2013 he was the ambassador of Uzbekistan in Singapore and Australia (since 2011), and in 2013-2014 he was ambassador to South Korea.

Earlier, Otabek Akbarov worked as ambassador of Uzbekistan in the UK.
