Uzbekistan's delegation led by the country's Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov has held a number of meetings in New York, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

Kamilov held a meeting with Paolo Gentiloni, Italy 's minister for foreign affairs and international cooperation as part of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting, the sides reviewed the proposals for intensifying the bilateral relations between the two countries at various levels, as well as the time of holding the next political consultations.

The foreign ministers discussed the status and prospects for Uzbek-Italian relations and exchanged views on the agenda of the UN General Assembly's ongoing session, Uzbekistan 's Foreign Ministry said.

Previously, during the meeting with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, the two sides discussed the promising areas of cooperation, as well as the Uzbek side's proposals to the draft consolidated report on sustainable development goals for 2016-2030.

Moreover, during the meeting with Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad bin Amin Madani, the sides discussed the prospects of intensifying the cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OIC.

They also touched upon the practical issues of Uzbekistan 's presidency in the Council of Foreign Ministers of the organization's member states in 2016 and the preparation for the ministerial council meeting in Tashkent.

Uzbekistan's foreign minister also met with the Principal Deputy Secretary of State Antony John Blinken and discussed the further development of relations.
