Uzbekistan's new ambassador to Tehran Bahodir Abdullayev has presented his credentials to Iran's President Hassan Rouhani, Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry said.
He replaced Ilhom Akramov on this post.
During the ceremony, the sides discussed the status and prospects for the bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and Iran.
Iran's president noted that the meeting with Uzbekistan's President Islam Karimov during the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2014 is of great importance for strengthening the mutually beneficial ties.
"During the meeting, the sides expressed interest in expanding the cooperation in various spheres, especially, in trade, economic, transport and communications, science, tourism and other spheres," said the ministry.
