There were no citizens of Uzbekistan among the victims of the Jan.12 blast in the center of Istanbul, the Uzbek foreign ministry said Jan.13.
"There are no citizens of Uzbekistan among the victims of the terrorist attack that took place in Istanbul, according to the Uzbek embassy in Turkey," said the message.
On Jan.12, an explosion hit Sultanahmet Square in Istanbul, which killed 10 people, eight of them were citizens of Germany.
It was reported that a suicide bomber blew himself up near the central mosque when tourists were passing by. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the blast a terrorist attack carried out by a Syrian citizen, who belongs to a terrorist group "Islamic State" (aka IS, ISIS or ISIL).
