The Swiss Casale SA will built a new production of nitric acid on the basis of Navoiazot JSC in Uzbekistan worth $177 million, Trend was told by Uzhimprom JSC, which unites the country's chemical industry enterprises.

Navoiazot JSC specializes in the production of nitrogen fertilizers, nitronic fiber as well as in integrated production of organic synthesis.

"Under the agreement with Casale, approved by the Navoiazot shareholders, the Swiss company will carry out the construction of the technological part of nitric acid production," said the company.

It is expected to sign the relevant contract until the end of the February. The project is planned to implement until the end of 2018.

The designed capacity of the new production will be 500,000 tons of non-concentrated nitric acid per year.

Total cost of the project for upgrading the production of nitric acid on the basis of Navoiazot JSC is $216.67 million.

The project will be financed by a loan of Uzbekistan's Fund for Reconstruction and Development in the amount of $72.65 million, loans of international financial institutions and Navoiazot's own funds.

As it is expected the construction of new nitric acid production will allow providing a reliable source of raw materials for the development of capacities for the production of mineral fertilizers.
