OIC member states discuss strengthening of co-op

Participants of the 39th session of the Islamic Commission for Economic, Cultural and Social Affairs (ICECS) of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) member states discussed the strengthening of multilateral cooperation within the OIC, including the spheres of trade, investments, tourism, agriculture, transportation and others.

Participants of the 39th session of the Islamic Commission for Economic, Cultural and Social Affairs (ICECS) of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) member states discussed the strengthening of multilateral cooperation within the OIC, including the spheres of trade, investments, tourism, agriculture, transportation and others.

The session was held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on July 23-25 under the chairmanship of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a message July 26.

An exchange of views on draft resolutions, included in the upcoming Tashkent session of the OIC Foreign Ministers Council, was held during the session.

Uzbekistan’s delegation was headed by the country’s Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov at the OIC session.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was established in September of 1969 to ensure Islamic solidarity in social, economic and political spheres. The organization has 57 member states.

Uzbekistan became an OIC member in 1996.
