Uzbekistan, Tajikistan set to resume flights

Delegations of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan held talks in the city of Dushanbe on organizational, legal and economic aspects of further cooperation in the aviation sphere, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a message posted on its website.

Following the talks, the sides signed a protocol on the resumption of flights, according to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.

The protocol is the main document based on which the sides will sign an agreement to start the flights.

Under the protocol, the Dushanbe-Tashkent-Dushanbe flight will be carried out twice a week by the Somon Air and Uzbekistan Airways. It is expected that these airlines will begin the flights in early January 2017.

Meanwhile, the Uzbekistan Airways has already carried out the Tashkent-Dushanbe-Tashkent charter flight Dec. 1.

No flights have been carried out between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan since the autumn of 1992.
