The volume of gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan at current prices in 2016 amounted to 199.325 trillion soums ($61.68 billion), according to preliminary information, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan reported.
It was reported that the Uzbek GDP increased by 7.8 percent last year.
The share of industry in the Uzbek GDP decreased to 32.9 percent in 2016 compared to 33.1 percent a year earlier, the share of agriculture, forestry and fisheries - to 17.6 percent from 18.3 percent in 2015, while the share of services rose to 49.5 percent from 48.6 percent. Net taxes on products amounted to 8.7 percent last year against 8.8 percent in 2015, according to the report.
The Uzbek GDP growth in January-December 2016 was mainly influenced by the added value growth of construction (12.5 percent growth), trade, accommodation and catering services (13.4 percent growth), as well as transportation and storage, information and communications (7.1 percent growth).
