Iran Interior Minister: US recent sanction out of quandary

Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said the US imposition of sanction against Iranian diplomats is out of its distress and quandary, ISNA reported.

Concerning the US freeze on assets of 8 Iranian diplomats, Najjar said, "the measure demonstrates contradictory behaviors, distress and quandary of the US officials."

The US President Barack Obama's administration stepped up pressure against Iran's government on Wednesday, imposing financial and travel sanctions on eight Iranian officials.

US claimed that the Iranian officials were involved in post-election events in Iran.

"The US administration is locked in a fierce contradiction in dealing with human rights issues and such ill-conceived measure shows lack of balance in its foreign policy and interference in other countries' affairs," Najjar said.

The Iranian Interior Minister went on to say that the major reason for the US fury is out of Iranian nation's resistance, adding that, "recent progress of Iranian nation in all fields and revealing remarks of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the UN General Assembly annual meeting in New York has made the US officials extremely angry."

Ahmadinejad in his speech at the UN General Assembly meeting had said that the US has played a role in 9/11 attack.

Also concerning the West's recent resolutions against Iran, Najjar said, "Iranian nation will change sanctions into opportunity."

As to ban on his travel to the US territory, Najjar said, "I have never wished to visit the US and I will not do it in future."
